Call for Papers

Journal of Global Arts Studies (JGAS) welcomes submissions for its regular issues. JGAS is an international, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to research in global arts, cultural studies, and interdisciplinary approaches to artistic practice and theory.

The journal provides a platform for scholarly work that examines the production, circulation, interpretation, and transformation of art across cultural, regional, historical, and technological contexts. We particularly encourage submissions that engage with global perspectives, cross-cultural dialogue, emerging artistic practices, and critical approaches to contemporary arts and culture.

1.Scope

JGAS invites manuscripts in areas including, but not limited to:

Global arts and cultural studies
Cross-cultural artistic practices and theories
Visual arts, music, dance, design, architecture, and digital art
Intangible cultural heritage and traditional arts
Art history, art theory, and aesthetics
Globalization, cultural communication, and regional culture
Artificial intelligence and art
Art education and technology
Art therapy and creative practice
Art policy, art management, and cultural industries
Contemporary art, media, and society
Sustainable art practices and environmental art

Submissions that address related interdisciplinary topics are also welcome.

2.Article Types

JGAS considers the following types of manuscripts:

a. Research Articles; b. Review Articles; c. Essays; d. Case Studies; e. Interviews; f. Book Reviews; g. Exhibition Reviews; h. Conference Reports; i. Special Issue Articles; j. Other scholarly materials approved by the Editorial Board. The Editorial Board may determine whether a submitted manuscript is suitable for the selected article type.

3.Language Policy

JGAS publishes articles in English.

Manuscripts may be submitted in English,  Chinese or Korean. Accepted manuscripts submitted in languages other than English will be prepared for English-language publication in accordance with the journal’s editorial standards.

4.Publication Schedule

JGAS is published four times a year, with issues released on:

March 31, June 30, September 30, and December 31.

Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis and are assigned to an issue following peer review, acceptance, editing, and production.

5.Peer Review

All submissions undergo editorial screening. Manuscripts that fall within the journal’s scope and meet basic scholarly and editorial standards are sent for peer review.

The review process evaluates the originality, academic contribution, methodological soundness, clarity of argument, relevance to the journal’s scope, and compliance with publication ethics.

6.Submission
