Submission Preparation Checklist

Before submitting a manuscript to the Journal of Global Arts Studies (JGAS), authors must confirm that the following requirements have been met. By submitting a manuscript to JGAS, the author(s) also certify that they have read, understood, and agree to comply with the journal’s Publication Ethics, AI Ethics Policy, authorship requirements, conflict of interest requirements, Copyright and Open Access Policy, and all other applicable journal policies.

1. Originality and Exclusive Submission
The manuscript is original, unpublished, and not currently under consideration by another journal, book, conference proceeding, or publication platform. The manuscript does not contain plagiarism, duplicate publication, redundant publication, fabricated data, falsified information, or any other form of research or publication misconduct. If the manuscript is based on a thesis, dissertation, conference presentation, working paper, preprint, or prior public version, this has been clearly disclosed to the editorial office.

2. Relevance to the Journal
The manuscript makes a scholarly contribution to the fields covered by the journal, including global arts and cultural studies, visual and performing arts, design and media arts, art history and theory, cultural studies, cultural heritage, cultural communication and international cultural exchange, museum and curatorial studies, arts education, art management, cultural policy, intellectual property and cultural rights, creative industries, digital and emerging technologies in the arts, art and sustainable development, interdisciplinary arts research, or related areas.

3. Submission Language and Publication Language
The initial manuscript is submitted in English, Korean, or Chinese. The author(s) understand that the official publication language of JGAS is English. If the manuscript is submitted in Korean or Chinese, the author(s) understand that, after acceptance or conditional acceptance, a complete English version of the final manuscript must be submitted before publication.

4. Manuscript Completeness
The manuscript includes the necessary elements for editorial screening and peer review,where applicable, including: a. title; b. abstract; c. keywords; d. main text; e. references; f. tables, figures, images, appendices, or supplementary materials, where applicable. The manuscript is complete, readable, and prepared in a clear academic format.
For Research Articles, Review Articles, and Case Studies, the abstract normally falls within the required length of 150 to 250 words and clearly summarizes the purpose, scope, approach, main argument, findings, and contribution of the manuscript.

5. Format-Free Initial Submission
The author(s) understand that JGAS allows format-free initial submission. At the initial submission stage, the manuscript does not need to follow a strict journal template, provided that it is complete, readable, and contains all essential scholarly elements. The author(s) understand that, after acceptance or conditional acceptance, the final manuscript must be revised according to the official JGAS manuscript template and formatting requirements.

6. Citation and References
All sources used in the manuscript have been properly cited and acknowledged. All in-text citations and reference entries are accurate and complete. The author(s) understand that the final manuscript must follow APA citation and reference style before publication. All cited works appear in the reference list, and all reference list entries are cited in the manuscript.

7. Authorship
All listed authors have made substantial scholarly contributions to the manuscript. All authors have approved the submitted version of the manuscript. The corresponding author has obtained consent from all co-authors for submission to JGAS. No inappropriate authorship practices are involved, including guest authorship, honorary authorship, gift authorship, ghost authorship, or omission of qualified contributors. AI tools, chatbots, large language models, or other non-human technologies are not listed as authors or co-authors.

8. Author Information
The title page or submission form includes accurate author information, including: a. full name of each author; b. institutional affiliation of each author; c. email address of the corresponding author; d. ORCID iD, where available; e. acknowledgements, where applicable; f. funding information, where applicable; g. conflict of interest statement.
For double-blind peer review, author information has been provided only in the title page or submission form. The manuscript file submitted for review has been anonymized and does not include author names, affiliations, academic ranks, job titles, administrative titles, acknowledgements, self-identifying references, file metadata, or any other information that may reveal the identity, institutional background, or status of the author(s).
The author(s) understand that author names and institutional affiliations may appear in the title page, submission form, and final published article, but academic ranks, job titles, administrative titles, or other hierarchical position titles should not be included in the manuscript file submitted for review or in the final published article unless specifically required for editorial, ethical, or legal reasons. Any such information, where collected, is used only for editorial administration, publication metadata, and research ethics records and must not be used as a basis for editorial or peer review decisions.

9. Research Ethics and Informed Consent
If the manuscript involves human participants, interviews, surveys, fieldwork, personal information, identifiable images, performance documentation, community-based research, or vulnerable individuals, appropriate ethical standards have been followed. Where required, ethics approval has been obtained from an appropriate institutional review board or ethics committee. Where applicable, informed consent has been obtained from participants, interviewees, artists, performers, or other identifiable individuals. The privacy, dignity, and confidentiality of research participants have been protected.
Where relevant, sex and gender dimensions have been considered in the research design, analysis, and reporting, and participant characteristics have been reported appropriately, unless such information is not applicable or cannot be disclosed for ethical, privacy, or safety reasons.

10. Figures, Tables, Images, and Multimedia Materials
All figures, tables, images, artworks, photographs, diagrams, maps, audio, video, performance documentation, archival materials, and other media are accurate, properly labeled, and ethically used. Each figure, image, or table includes a clear caption and source information. Permission has been obtained for third-party copyrighted materials where required. Any digital modification, restoration, enhancement, reconstruction, colorization, or AI-assisted generation or modification of visual or multimedia materials has been disclosed where applicable.

11. Copyright and Permissions
The manuscript does not infringe copyright, moral rights, image rights, privacy rights, licensing terms, database rights, or other intellectual property rights. Permission has been obtained for third-party materials where required, including artworks, photographs, museum or archive images, figures, tables, maps, audio, video, performance documentation, long quotations, and copyrighted digital materials. The author(s) understand that published articles are subject to the journal’s Copyright and Open Access Policy.By submitting the manuscript, the author(s) confirm that they have read and agree to the Copyright Notice and Copyright and Open Access Policy of JGAS. The author(s) understand that they retain copyright, grant JGAS and its publisher, the Korea Institute for Humanities and Social Sciences (KIHSS), the right of first publication, grant the journal non-exclusive rights to publish and distribute the article, and agree that the article will be distributed under CC BY 4.0 unless otherwise stated.

12. Conflict of Interest
Any actual, potential, or perceived conflict of interest has been disclosed. If there is no conflict of interest, the following statement may be included: Conflict of Interest Statement: The author(s) declare no conflict of interest.

13. Funding Statement
All funding sources, grants, sponsorships, institutional support, or financial assistance related to the research or preparation of the manuscript have been disclosed. If the research received no funding, the following statement may be included: Funding Statement: This research received no external funding.

14. AI Use Disclosure
Any substantive use of generative AI or AI-assisted technologies has been disclosed in accordance with the JGAS AI Ethics Policy. Disclosure is required when AI tools are used to draft, rewrite, translate, summarize, analyze, generate, modify, or substantially edit scholarly content, including text, references, images, figures, tables, audio, video, or data. If AI tools were used, the author(s) may include the following statement: AI Use Disclosure Statement: During the preparation of this manuscript, the author(s) used [name of AI tool, version if known] for [specific purpose]. The author(s) reviewed, edited, verified, and approved all AI-assisted content and take full responsibility for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and ethical compliance of the final manuscript. If no AI tool was used, the author(s) may include the following statement: AI Use Disclosure Statement: The author(s) declare that no generative AI or AI-assisted technologies were used in the preparation of this manuscript.

15. Peer Review
The author(s) understand that JGAS uses double-blind peer review for peer-reviewed scholarly articles. In principle, each peer-reviewed scholarly article that passes initial editorial screening will be reviewed by at least two independent reviewers. Other scholarly materials may be subject to editorial assessment or external peer review depending on their nature, length, academic content, and editorial judgment. The author(s) understand that reviewer recommendations are advisory and that the final editorial decision is made by the Co-Editors-in-Chief, the Editor-in-Chief where appointed, or the responsible editor.

16. Journal Policies
The author(s) have read and agree to comply with the relevant JGAS policies, including: a. Journal Regulations; b. Editorial and Peer Review Policy; c. Publication Ethics; d. AI Ethics Policy; e. Copyright and Open Access Policy; f. Privacy Policy; g. Corrections, Retractions, and Complaints Policy; h. other applicable policies published on the JGAS website.

17. Final Confirmation
By submitting the manuscript to JGAS, the author(s) confirm that the information provided is accurate and complete. The author(s) agree to cooperate with the editorial office if clarification, revision, documentation, ethics approval, permission records, or additional information is requested during editorial screening, peer review, production, or post-publication review.
