Abstract

Background: The interdisciplinary study of music education is one of the important topics in the field of contemporary music education. Based on psychology, physiology, statistics and musicology, David Huron, a Canadian music psychologist, proposed a comprehensive music expectation theory with the "IRPRA" model as the core, which provides a new perspective for practitioners in music education. Objective: This paper adopts the "ITPRA" model as the theoretical framework to discuss the practical significance of this theoretical model for formal music teaching and learning activities, and optimizes the practical implementation of music education from the perspective of this new theory. Methods: This study adopts the literature research method and case analysis method to sort out relevant theoretical foundations and analyze practical cases covering music appreciation, music performance, teaching methods and other core elements of music education. Results: By realizing the organic integration of theoretical models and practical cases, this paper designs targeted practical operation schemes applicable to diverse music teaching scenarios. Conclusion: This paper systematically discusses the diverse application potential of the "ITPRA" theory in music education practice at both macro and micro levels, and prospects the future development and in-depth application of this theory in the field of music education.
